Usually October in Minnesota heralds the true ending of warm weather until the next summer. I was recently resigning myself to the end of summer. However, today was the 8th straight day of temperatures in the 80s, which ties the record for most consecutive 80 degree days in October. I love this weather, but it is a little strange to be outside with leaves changing color and need to be wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Per the forecast fall will be upon us sometime in the next week, so these days of summer like weather look like they are coming to a close.
When I talked to my friend Elise on Friday and found out that she was planning on heading to a pumpkin patch/corn maze/hobby farm near their house on Saturday I invited Madelyn and myself along since Justin was working. It was a lot of fun to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, and to get some last uses out of Madelyn's summer clothes, but it was also strange to be doing a "fall" activity and feeling so hot. Elise posted some pictures of the fun that we all had on her blog. Elise's oldest daughter, Alethea, is 11 months older than Madelyn and did some explaining of things to Madelyn throughout the morning. All in all it was a really fun day, although we would have loved to have Justin with us as well.
The other thing that happened this weekend was a new milestone for Madelyn: she can now open doors by turning the handles. Up until this point, since every room in our house closes off with a door, we haven't worried too much about keeping her out of rooms since we could just shut the door. A new era dawned today...I am not sure if we are ready for it.

Glad you could come along with us. I think Alethea had more fun because Madelyn was there to listen to her talking. She does love to talk!
